Broomcorn millet Panicum miliaceum L. In Europe, millet was reported in Early Neolithic contexts formed by BC, but recent radiocarbon dating of a dozen 'early' grains cast doubt on these claims. Archaeobotanical evidence reveals that millet was common in Europe from the 2nd millennium BC, when major societal and economic transformations took place in the Bronze Age. We conducted ams dating extensive programme of AMS-dating of charred broomcorn millet grains from 75 prehistoric sites in Europe. Broomcorn millet succeeds in exceptionally wide range of growing conditions and completes its lifecycle in less than three summer months. We provide a new, high-resolution chronological framework for this key agricultural development that likely contributed to far-reaching changes in lifestyle in late 2nd millennium BC Europe. CC BY 4. AMS dating ( ± 30 BP). Direct radiocarbon (AMS) dating of split-based points from the (Proto)Aurignacian of Trou de la Mère Clochette, Northeastern France. A small but representative fraction have now been radiocarbon dated at three different AMS laboratories. The present paper summarizes the results of these. / Radiocarbon dating, environmental research topics and supernova signatures State-of-the-art AMS: capabilities and limits. Despite poor pollen preservation, it was possible to date the basal layers of this profile on the basis of their pollen assemblages.B 47— Notwithstanding the situation of this locality far above the present tree-line, this infill contains quantities of pollen and spores sufficient for pollen analysis without use of any enrichment techniques.
